Steph came to us as an incredibly shy, quietly spoken young lady. No longer attending school and had even dropped out of her alternative education provision. She had suffered bullying, anxiety and depression. In the early months it was hard to say whether Steph was benefitting from the CLTH programme, she was mono syllabic and when asked if she was enjoying it would simply shrug her shoulders.
We don’t know when it happened, or why it happened but one day without being asked she set upon sweeping the yard with great vigour. She got stuck into everything, mucking out, yard duties and generally being incredibly helpful. The other transformation was her willingness to help others, initially she was reluctant to get involved but then her confidence shone.
Steph also won the BHS Pamela Almond Award and received this from Martin Clunes- what a success!
